On the introduction of the M.Tech. Software Systems programme and transfer from M.S. to M.Tech.
The
various work integrated learning programmes are being reviewed
comprehensively and redesigned accordingly. Such a review of the MS
programme in Software Systems, along with a study of similar programmes
offered by leading Universities within and outside the country, and an
examination of the profile and the motivation of the students enrolled,
led us to the conclusion that there was adequate reason and academic
rationale to offer an M.Tech. programme in Software Systems with the
provision for specialization in
several domains. Such a variation in the structure would cater to
students with different academic backgrounds, professional interests
and motivation.
Could a student enrolled in the M.S. Software Systems programme seek a transfer to the corresponding M.Tech. programme?
Yes,
a student currently enrolled in an M.S. programme may seek a transfer
to the M.Tech. programme in the same discipline. In such a situation,
the courses completed till the point of reckoning will be given due
credit as permissible, and the semester-wise chart for the remaining
programme will be worked out accordingly. Such a student may be required
to spend additional time to complete the requisite coursework and /or
Dissertation of the M.Tech. programme. However, a student who has
completed the requirements for the award of the M.S. degree is not
eligible to apply for such a transfer.
Could
a student enrolled in the M.S. Software Systems programme and currently
registered in Dissertation seek a transfer to the M.Tech. Software
Systems programme?
Yes,
as above. However, the programme structure and the set of core courses
and electives which are part of the M.S. programme are different from
those of the M.Tech. programme. For students who seek a transfer from
an M.S. programme to an M.Tech. programme in the same discipline, the
courses completed till the point of reckoning will be given due credit,
and the semesterwise chart for the remaining programme will be worked
out accordingly. The students may take one or more additional semesters
to complete the required coursework requirement of the M.Tech.
programme. However, we are also exploring possible options for enabling
students to complete the additional coursework without spending an
additional semester.
What is the procedure for seeking a transfer from M.S. to M.Tech. Software Systems programme?
Students
who wish to seek a transfer from M.S. progamme to M.Tech. programme in
the same discipline need to apply online through the WILP website,
details of which will be provided by November 11, 2014.
